MINNESOTA LIFE COLLEGE

Over the summer of 2013 I was an intern at Minnesota Life College, a wonderful vocational school for young adults with learning differences and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). During my time there I learned to find an organization's voice and was given a number of chances to be vocal. That included developing MLC's social media presence, posting on its web blog, creating advertisements, and writing copy for handbooks, manuals, and flyers.
Wanting to continue our relationship after my internship, Minnesota Life College hired me as an independent contractor in November. My duties include writing for the MLC website's blog, researching topics relevant to autism awareness, submitting article proposals to media outlets, developing original content, and covering special events. I'm so thankful to have found a job I'm passionate about, and get to play a part in spreading Autism Awareness.

Multimedia Writing
Most of my work as a freelance writer can be found on the MLC web blog. Here are some samples.
- ASD Superpowers: Profiles of five individuals with Autism who accomplished extraordinary feats
- ASD & Technology: Coverage of the "Apps for Independence" event held at St. Thomas University
- Student Spotlight - Elissa Beard: A piece highlighting one of MLC's extraordinary students with learning differences
